Following on from the article in the last issue entitled ‘Use Approved Cable or Die’, BASEC wrote to us to provide more information on testing and approvals. They do visit BASEC approved manufacturers several times a year and test samples from production and stock to ensure compliance.
Both BASEC and FS Cables are committed to ensuring high quality products are available to the UK market and providing information to help you make informed purchasing decisions.
There is unfortunately a real lack of understanding in the industry surrounding standards and approvals and buyers and specifiers need to be confident the products they are buying are fit for purpose. Independent national bodies such as BASEC and other third party verification bodies play an important role in this.
