About the Quality Control Role

Providing our customers with quality products is at the heart of what we do. As Quality Control you will play an essential role in handling all aspects of quality control practices and processes. You will support business needs and ensure the correct implementation of safety regulations. Your goal will be to ensure the products supplied by our supply chain partners are to the agreed specifications.  This will involve lab testing to European standards and keeping accurate and detailed records.

To be successful in this position you must show willing to understand the requirements of the products and service we offer to our customers in order to help to preserve our strong reputation within the industry and assist with the continual development of the department.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn and passionate about all aspects of quality. We are looking for either someone who has experience in product quality control and testing in a relevant industry, or an enthusiastic and dynamic graduate willing to learn and grow with the business. In return we will deliver and create a supportive training programme to enable you to deliver on all aspects of your role.

Main Duties

Product Responsibility
  • Ensuring the quality of all products supplied by our supply chain partners by inspecting incoming stock for its consistency and integrity
  • Product testing within the FSC laboratory (e.g. fire testing) for confirmation of the product being supplied by our supply chain partners and to ensure that products are suitable for independent verification
  • Liaising with suppliers to resolve any product quality issues
  • Building strong relationships with external, independent test companies, including making site visits and ensuring the products are tested to meet the latest international standards 
  • Working closely with the purchasing team to create new product opportunities and introductions, including the design and integration of new products into the product portfolio  
  • Creating technical documents and product images for all business avenues including digital marketing, sales and ecommerce platforms 
  • Troubleshooting quality issues by identifying the root causes of RMA’s from customers, reporting quality issues and managing through to resolution 
  • Develop product training document modules on new and existing products, standards and test methods, and facilitate training

Process Responsibility
  • Continuously review quality control processes  and lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost and safety
  • Preparing standardised work procedures and communicate procedures to relevant departments 
  • Creating supplier auditing documentation and working with the purchasing team to establish quality requirements for our supply chain partners 
  • Ensuring test data is recorded accurately and documentation is filed correctly and available for future reference 
  • Working closely with the purchasing team to establish quality requirements of our supply chain partners
  • Maintaining all testing and instrumentation equipment within the business 
  • Ensuring all safety procedures and practices are implemented and followed

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar product quality control role ideally in a relevant industry (e.g. electrical components/accessories) or an electrical/mechanical engineering graduate 
  • Willing to learn and motivated to develop knowledge of the product 
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven logical problem solving and analytical thinking capability 
  • Experience in data recording and handling 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relay technical information to a variety of audiences 
  • Passion for quality and maintaining high standards and best practice 
  • Positive attitude and approachable manner 
  • Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Confident ability to use the Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Team player
